MAT sync status — sync health across every school

A school's own Sync status page covers one school. In MAT mode, the same sidebar item opens MAT sync status: one row per school you can reach, so you can see which schools need attention without opening each one.

Before you start

  • You must be in MAT mode (MAT overview — all schools in the school switcher at the top of the page).
  • Your admin access must include View sync status. See Reduced admin access.

Steps

Step 1: Open MAT sync status

In MAT mode, open Platforms → Sync status in the sidebar. Sync status is a group; its first item, also called Sync status, opens this page. The page is titled MAT sync status — "Provisioning outcomes across your trust". (If you open the single-school Sync status page while in MAT mode, it asks you to pick a school and offers a MAT sync overview button that brings you here.)

Step 2: Choose the time window

At the top right, pick Last 24 hours, Last 7 days (the default) or Last 30 days. Everything on the page follows it.

Step 3: Read the trust-wide trend

The Trust-wide trend card adds up the whole trust: Applied, Didn't apply and Success rate. The success rate is green at 95% and above and amber below it. The bars show each day: green is what applied and gold is what didn't, so a mostly-healthy week looks mostly green. Hover a day for the numbers.

"Applied" and "didn't apply" count entries in the sync log, not people, so a school with a large roll-over can show thousands. A problem that keeps repeating is stored as a single entry, so the figures show how many different things applied or failed, not how many times a failure was retried. Use them to compare schools and to see whether things are improving.

Step 4: Find the schools that need a look

The table has one row per school, A to Z:

  • Google — Applied and Didn't apply for the Google sync (this also covers the MIS import and the Apple sync, which are logged alongside it).
  • Entra — Applied and Didn't apply, then Issues: the number of separate Entra sync problems logged for the school in the window. A dash means the school doesn't use Entra sync. A number is a link to the trust-wide Entra issues page.

A Didn't apply figure above zero is where to start. To find out why for one school, switch into it and open its Sync status and Logs, or look at it without switching from the MAT overview (see Look at one school from the MAT overview). For one person across several schools, use User log trace.

The numbers are held for up to five minutes, so a change you just made may take a few minutes to show.

Step 5: Jump to the related pages

The top-right buttons (and the rest of the Sync status group in the sidebar) lead to:

For what each school's sync will do before it goes live, use Platforms → Sync preview: see Seeing every school at once.

Troubleshooting

  • "I can't see Sync status in the MAT sidebar" — you need View sync status, and to be in MAT mode.
  • "A school I expect isn't in the table" — the table only lists schools you can reach. See Admin permissions.
  • "Entra issues shows a dash for a school" — that school doesn't have Entra sync switched on.
  • "The numbers didn't change after I fixed something" — the page is cached for up to five minutes, and the sync only reports on its next run. See View sync status and logs.
