Active Directory password updates
When password sync is on, the Active Directory connector can capture password changes users make in AD and feed them back to Realsmart, so the rest of a user's accounts can be kept in step. This page is a read-only log of those updates for the school, plus two summary figures. It changes nothing itself — it's a record of what the connector has reported.
When this page appears
This page only applies when Sync passwords to AD is switched on in Active Directory settings. With password sync off, there is nothing to capture, so the page has no purpose.
What you see
Two summary tiles at the top:
- Pending password updates — how many members currently have a password change captured but not yet processed (still queued). A non-zero count is normal briefly after changes happen; it should clear as the sync runs. It's highlighted when above zero.
- Connector last ran — how long ago the connector last checked in (as a friendly "x minutes ago", or Never if it hasn't run yet). This is a quick way to confirm the connector is alive.
A "Recent password updates" table listing the most recent captured changes (newest first), with:
- User — who the change is for, linked to their user record.
- Password — always shown as "Encrypted value stored". The actual password is never displayed anywhere in Realsmart; it is stored encrypted and only used by the sync.
- Updated — when the change was captured.
Reading it
- Empty table — no passwords have been received from Active Directory yet. That's expected on a new setup, or if users haven't changed their AD passwords since the connector was linked.
- Pending count won't clear — if the pending figure stays high and Connector last ran is a long time ago, the connector may not be running. Revisit Set up Active Directory sync and check the connector app on your server.
