Smart Behaviour

Overview

Smart Behaviour displays a signed-in pupil's behaviour record under the heading My Behaviour on any page where you add the shortcode: their Total Achievements, Total Behaviours and Total Detentions, month-by-month totals, and a list of individual entries showing the date, points, location and member of staff where these are recorded. Data is pulled live from Realsmart's SmartLogin service each time the page loads, so pupils get a personal view of their record without anyone needing to update the website by hand.

There's no settings page — you place the shortcode wherever you want it to appear.

Getting set up

Step 1: Add the shortcode

Create or edit a page that signed-in pupils can reach — for example a pupil dashboard — and add [smart_behaviour] to it. Publish the page.

Step 2: Test it while signed in

Visit the page while signed in through your school's usual Realsmart sign-in. If you view the page signed out, you'll see "No behaviour data available." instead — this is expected.

Features

Behaviour display shortcode

Shortcode Parameters Description
[smart_behaviour] height, dont_show_behaviour, dont_show_achievement, dont_show_comments Displays behaviour data for the signed-in visitor
Parameter What it does
height Sets a maximum height (in pixels) for the display, e.g. height="400"
dont_show_behaviour Hides the behaviour and detention totals, e.g. dont_show_behaviour="yes"
dont_show_achievement Hides the achievement totals, e.g. dont_show_achievement="yes"
dont_show_comments Asks for comments to be left out, e.g. dont_show_comments="yes"

The three dont_show_ parameters only work when you give them a value, as in the examples. Written on its own (for example [smart_behaviour dont_show_behaviour]) the parameter is ignored. Any value hides the section, even "no", so to show a section, leave its parameter out.

Requirements: The visitor must be signed in with a valid login token from your school's usual sign-in route.

Troubleshooting

No behaviour data is showing

Why it happens: The visitor isn't signed in, their login token has expired or is missing, or SmartLogin has no behaviour data for them. Any of these shows "No behaviour data available."

How to fix it:

  1. Confirm you're testing while signed in through your school's usual Realsmart sign-in — an account signed in with a WordPress username and password has no token.
  2. Ask the pupil to sign out and back in again.
  3. If the issue affects several pupils at once, contact Realsmart support.
