View your profile
The My profile page shows your account information and lets you manage your own picture, password, appearance, page walkthroughs, and (for admins) notification preferences. It has up to six cards — which ones you see depends on your role and what your school has set up.
Steps
Step 1 — Open My profile {#step-1}
Select your name or avatar at the bottom of the left sidebar to open the profile menu. Then select My profile.
Alternatively, if your sidebar has a direct My profile link, select that.
Step 2 — Review your account details {#step-2}
The Account card shows:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Name | Your first name and surname |
| Username | Your login username |
| Role | Your role (learner, mentor, admin, observer, governor, or ofsted) |
| School | The school your account belongs to |
| MIS / school ID | Your identifier from the MIS system |
| Status | Active or Suspended |
Your name and other account fields are read-only here. To change them, contact your school admin — they can edit your account from the Users page. You can still change your own picture, password, and appearance below.
Step 3 — Update your profile picture (optional) {#step-3}
The Profile picture card is how you appear across the admin — square photos work best.
- Select the upload control and choose an image.
- Select Save to apply it, or Remove to clear it and fall back to your initials.
Step 4 — Change the appearance (optional) {#step-4}
The Appearance card lets you choose your colour theme:
- Light — light background
- Dark — dark background
- System — matches your device's system setting (light or dark)
The always-available top-bar toggle does the same thing in one click without opening your profile at all. See Switch theme for both routes.
Step 5 — Change your password (optional) {#step-5}
The Password card lets you set a new password for signing in:
- Enter a new password, then the same password again in Confirm new password.
- Select Change password.
Your new password must meet your school's password policy (a minimum length, and for some schools extra complexity), and can't be an obvious or commonly used password. If your school syncs to Google or Microsoft, your new password is updated there too on the next sync.
No Password card, or it says password changes are turned off? Some schools manage passwords centrally, and some turn changes off for individual accounts. When that's the case the page explains it instead of showing the fields — ask your school administrator if you need your password reset. See Reset passwords.
Step 6 — Manage page walkthroughs (optional) {#step-6}
The Page walkthroughs card controls the short, dismissable tours that point out what's on a page the first time you visit it:
- Show walkthroughs — a switch to turn future walkthroughs on or off. Turning it off also happens automatically if you select "Turn off all walkthroughs" from inside a walkthrough itself.
- Replay all walkthroughs — clears what you've already seen (and turns walkthroughs back on if they were off), so every page shows its tour again as you visit it.

Step 7 — Set notification preferences (admins only) {#step-7}
Admins also see a Notifications card here — it's where you choose whether the exceptions bell also emails you a digest, how often, and what to include. It's covered in full in Notifications (the bell), since it's really about the bell, not your profile — this step is just to save you looking for it elsewhere.
