Monthly website report
Overview
Dashboard → Monthly report gives a short report on the school website for one month, written for a headteacher, governors or trustees. It starts with a few sentences "In brief", then shows:
- Website compliance: how much of what the Department for Education says a school website must or should publish is on the site, the change since the start of the month, the legal must-haves in place, what was put right this month and what is still to do. These are the figures from Website compliance.
- Policies due for review in the next 90 days, and any that are overdue, from the review dates set in Policy Manager.
- What was published: news posts, pages and events published that month, who published them, and the latest few. Posts and pages your trust shares with the school are the trust's, so they are not counted.
- Visitors: how many pages people opened, and the most visited pages.
- Ofsted early warning: any time someone read the website in the way an inspector preparing a visit often does, from the Ofsted website alerts.
Choose another month from Month and click Show. The current month is shown "so far".
Print it or save it as a PDF
- Go to Dashboard → Monthly report and choose the month.
- Click Print or save as PDF.
- In the print window, choose Save as PDF (or a printer).
Only the report is printed, without the WordPress menus.
Email it each month
Nobody is emailed until you turn it on. Only an administrator can change who receives it.
- Go to Dashboard → Monthly report and scroll to Email this report.
- Tick Email the report each month.
- Choose the day of the month to send it (1 to 28). It goes on that day, or overnight soon after.
- Add up to ten email addresses, for example the headteacher and the chair of governors. The role is only for your reference.
- Click Save.
The first email is next month's: turning emails on never sends a report straight away. Each person gets their own email, so nobody sees who else receives it. The email holds the whole report and a button to open it on the website (which needs a sign-in).
Preview the email shows the email as it will look, without sending anything.
Stop the emails
Every email has a Stop these emails link. It asks the reader to confirm, then takes their address off the list. An administrator can also remove an address under Email this report and click Save, or untick Email the report each month to stop all of them.
Where the numbers come from
- Compliance comes from the website's overnight check. The report keeps a copy of the result each night, so the change "since the start of the month" and "put right this month" start from the month the report was first switched on. An earlier month shows "No compliance figures were kept for this month".
- Policies count every file in Policy Manager with a review date (month and day) set. A file is overdue when a review date has passed since it was last uploaded or replaced. Policies shared from your trust's website are the trust's to review, so they are not listed.
- Visitors count the pages people opened on the website. Staff signed in to the website, search engines and other robots, link previews and pages that were not found are not counted. No cookie is set and nothing about the visitor is kept: only the page and the day. Counting began when this report arrived on the website, so earlier months say "Page visits were not being counted yet". The figure will not match Google Analytics exactly: that counts only visitors who accept analytics cookies.
- Events are counted from The Events Calendar. Smart WP Calendar events are not counted.
- Ofsted signs come from the Ofsted website alerts' "likely" and "possible" inspector verdicts. Months before November 2026 can also show signs from Website Activity Monitoring, since retired. A sign is an early warning, not a certainty.
For trusts
Each school's figures (never the names of the people who published) are also sent to Trust Hub, where a trust sees every school side by side with the trust's totals.
