Parent notices list and delivery numbers
Open Smart Parents → Notifications in the sidebar (or the Notifications tab on the Smart Parents page) to see every parent notice at your school and how it's doing. You need to be an admin who holds Manage Smart Parents.
Mentors don't have this list: they see their own notices under Your recent notices on the Add parent notice page. To write a notice, see Add a parent notice.
At the top of the page
The heading Notices to parents says how many notices have been sent so far, and New notice starts a new one. Some warnings can appear underneath:
- "…" stopped sending part way through. A send lost its connection. Select Open it to resume, then Resume sending on the notice's report (nobody gets it twice).
- N comments reported by parents. Open the notices listed to hide a comment or keep it showing. See Moderate comments on parent notices. A second box lists parents who can't comment on the school's notices, with Let them comment again.
- N notices are scheduled. It names the next one and when it goes out. Select Show scheduled notices to filter the list to them.
The numbers
- Sent in 30 days — notices sent in the last 30 days, with a small chart of notices sent per week over the last 12 weeks.
- Drafts waiting — drafts that aren't scheduled.
- Phones notified (30 days) — phones that were successfully sent a push notification in the last 30 days.
- Delivery (30 days) — the share of push notifications that were successfully sent, as a percentage (green at 95% or more). A push that fails shows against Failed on the notice's report.
Who your notices can reach
Three cards show what a notice to every parent could reach today:
- Pupils with a parent linked — for example 380 of 450. Select N without — hand out PINs to open the Students tab filtered to No associations.
- Parents linked — and about how many per pupil.
- Parents with the app on a phone — parents with at least one phone registered, how many phones, and how many parents have none. A parent who has switched notifications off in the app still counts here, but their phone won't buzz; they still see the notice in the app. For the class by class picture see Smart Parents app coverage by class.
Every notice
Search with the box at the top ("Title, message or who it was for…"). Select Filters (or press f) to narrow by Status (Sent, Scheduled or Draft), Written by (anyone who has written a notice at the school) or Has attachments. Active filters show as chips with Clear all.
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Notice | The cover picture (or a megaphone), the title with a paper-clip count if it has attachments, and the short message |
| Status | Draft, Scheduled, Sending, Stopped or Sent (see below) |
| For | Every parent, or the first two groups, pupils or parents chosen with "+N" for the rest, or Not chosen yet for a draft |
| Reached | How many parents have the notice in the app (whether or not their phone buzzed) and how many have read it. A dash for a draft |
| Delivery | The share of push notifications successfully sent, with a bar |
| By | Who wrote it |
| When | When it was sent, or when a scheduled notice goes out, or when a draft was last edited |
Sort by Notice, Status, Reached or When. Newest comes first. There are 15 to a page.
What the statuses mean
- Draft — written but not sent. If it carries Didn't go out, it was scheduled but couldn't be sent: open it to read the reason at the top (see Add a parent notice).
- Scheduled — will go out by itself at the time shown.
- Sending — going out now.
- Stopped — a send stalled (no progress for about three minutes). Open it and select Resume sending.
- Sent — everyone it was for has it.
Select a row to open it: a draft or scheduled notice opens for editing, and a sent notice opens its report.
Delete notices
Tick the box next to one or more notices. The box at the top of the column ticks the whole page, and Select all N matching extends that to every notice that matches your filters. A bar shows how many are selected, with Delete. You're asked "Delete the selected notices and their delivery records? This can't be undone." Parents no longer see a deleted notice.
What isn't in the list
- A notice a teacher is still writing, or has scheduled, in teacher mode in the Smart Parents app stays in the app. It appears here once it has been sent.
- News and Smart Alerts from your school website do appear, written by the admin who connected the website. See Send website news, events and alerts to the Smart Parents app.
