Classroom reporting — dashboard, assignments and exports

Classroom reporting (sidebar → Engagement → Classroom reporting) shows how Google Classroom is being used across the school. It has four pages: Dashboard, Courses, Assignments and Exports.

Before you start

  • You need the View classroom reporting permission. Without it the item isn't in the sidebar.
  • Select a school first. In MAT overview each page says Switch to a school to view classroom reporting.
  • The pages read the Classroom data Realsmart has collected from Google, so Classroom reporting must be ticked on Google Workspace → Classroom (see Google Classroom settings) and Google sync must be on. Schools that use the live Classroom widgets on the launchpad have their data collected too. Without any of these the pages stay empty.
  • The data is read once a day, in the afternoon from Sunday to Friday, so today's new work usually appears the next day.
  • The pages show pupil names and grades. The files you download are personal data — handle them accordingly.

Dashboard

The page is headed Classroom reporting — Coursework activity across the school.

  • Coursework set (last 12 months) — a bar for each month, with the number above it and the year's total at the top right. If nothing was set you see No coursework recorded in the last year.
  • Per-member breakdown — type in Filter by user or group… to pick people or whole groups. For each person you see, month by month for the last 12 months, how much coursework was set in the classes they belong to, and a Total. It shows up to 30 people at a time. Remove someone with the × on their chip. With nobody picked you see Pick a user or group above to see their coursework activity.; if the people you picked have none, No coursework for the selected people.
  • Individual report (top right) — downloads a CSV with a row for every active person who has a Google account: their name and type, then a column for each month over the past year with the coursework set in their classes.

Courses

Every Google Classroom course for the school, with owner, state, created date and counts, plus tools to archive, restore or delete courses in Google. See Classroom courses.

Assignments

Headed Classroom assignments — Google Classroom coursework and submissions. Each row is an assignment: its title, the course it belongs to, the date it was created, how many Submissions have come in and how many were Late. It shows 50 a page, newest first.

Narrow it with Search course name, Search assignment title and Filter by user or group…. Export (top right) downloads the filtered list as a CSV: course, assignment, created, due, submissions and late. With nothing to show you see No assignments match.

Exports

Headed Classroom exports — Download monthly student-submission reports. There is a Student submissions tile for each of the last 12 months. Select one to download a CSV of every student submission created in that month: course name, assignment title, year group, forename, surname, member type, the submission's created date, whether it was late, the grade and its state. The file is sorted by surname.
