MAT Multisite

Share posts and sidebar widgets across multiple school websites in your multi-academy trust.

Overview

MAT Multisite lets a central trust team publish content once and propagate it to multiple school websites in the trust. When you publish a "multisite post" on the central site, copies are created on each selected school site automatically.

It also syncs sidebar widgets across sites, so trust-wide links and information stay consistent everywhere.

This plugin is for multi-academy trusts with multiple Realsmart school websites connected through a shared database.

Getting Set Up

  1. Go to SettingsMultisite Post.
  2. Enter your trust's Site IDs (comma-separated).
  3. Enter target Category Slugs for child sites.
  4. Save.
  5. When creating a post, use the MultiSite Post meta box to select target schools and category.

Widget sync

Common Tasks

Publishing a trust-wide news story

  1. Create a post on the central MAT site.
  2. In the MultiSite Post box, select the category and target schools.
  3. Publish — copies appear on each selected school site.

Tips & Best Practice

  • Only use MAT Multisite if your trust has the shared database infrastructure configured.
  • Test with one school before publishing to all sites.
  • Coordinate with school site administrators so they know which content comes from the trust centrally.

Troubleshooting

Posts are not appearing on child sites

Why it happens: Site IDs may be incorrect, or the shared database may not be configured.

How to fix it:

  1. Verify Site IDs in SettingsMultisite Post.
  2. Contact Realsmart support to confirm the multisitelinks database is set up.
